Team introduction - Rilana

In the last newsletter Nicole introduced herself to you. In this newsletter we introduce you to Rilana. When we planned the team introduction earlier this year, this format was supposed to end with Nicole as our newest team member. We are very happy to announce that our team introduction will be in next month's newsletter as well. So, stay tuned!

Team introduction - Rilana

In the last newsletter Nicole introduced herself to you. In this newsletter we introduce you to Rilana. When we planned the team introduction earlier this year, this format was supposed to end with Nicole as our newest team member. Hello,

My name is Rilana and I am 26 years old. After my graduation of social work and cultural education I started working for NGOs and NPOs remote. I joined UNDER Lea’s TRUST e. V. after a call on her Instagram looking for volunteers.

What are your tasks at ULT?

Since I have been starting to work for ULT this October my tasks still vary and I try to help out wherever it’s needed. I do take care of LinkedIn and sometimes Instagram posts as well as sending out updates for our sponsors. I also think about project ideas and hopefully will be able to implement them in the future.

Why are you involved in ULT?

As I mentioned before after finishing my studies I started working for a humanitarian Organisation in Greece teaching German for refugees. I noticed once more how important it is to offer education even in times of a crisis. I already followed Lea on Instagram and as soon as I saw her post about new volunteer positions for her Organisation so I contacted her and now here we are.

What was your favourite subject and what was your hate subject at school?

My favorite and least favorite school subjects: My favorites were english and history. English was always fun to learn and especially now while working for NGOs it is the language that’s been spoken the most at my work. History was important for me since every event that has taken part in the past still effects the present and by learning about it one is able to understand more why things are the way they are. My least favorite subject was sports and still to this day it is.

Where do you see ULT in 5 years?

In five years I hope that the school project is on the way or even nearly finished. Moreover, the food program is expanded and maybe even the team grew bigger to realize more projects for the Organisation.

Tell a funny/awkward/beautiful story from your school days.

A story that happened in my sixth grade when I had to wear loose braces at night, but one morning I accidentally put them back in and went to school not realizing it until it was too late. The problem was that I could not speak properly while I wore them so I went to my teachers explaining the issue to them and everybody was very understanding. So I ended up not needing to participate in the classes which led to a very relaxing school day.
