ULT Kenya: More than volunteering

Become part of a community

Volunteering with UNDER Lea’s TRUST is not about “coming to help for a moment.”
It is about supporting a community that works every day to create educational opportunities for children in Nairobi.

Our volunteers become part of the daily life of the project — working alongside the local team, getting to know the children, and experiencing the realities of life in Kenya firsthand.

Many volunteers tell us that their time in Nairobi changed their perspective on education, community and what truly matters.

How you can contribute

Volunteers support the daily work of our Kenyan team and help create a positive learning environment for the children.

Typical activities include:

• Help out at our ULT Academy
• Supporting learning and homework sessions
• Reading and creative activities with children
• Sports and play activities
• Helping during our weekly Food Program
• Supporting events and documentation
• Participating in community visits

Every day looks a little different: Flexibility and openness are part of the experience.

Your experience as an volunteer in Kenya

Volunteers stay at the home of Bonface, co-founder of UNDER Lea’s TRUST and host of the volunteer program.*

The accommodation is located close to the Soweto Slum, where most of our work takes place.

Living together with other volunteers creates a unique atmosphere of shared experiences, conversations, and cultural exchange.

During your stay you will:

• experience Kenyan culture and food
• spend time with the local team
• explore Nairobi and its surroundings
• gain insights into daily life in the community

No two days are the same and that is exactly what makes the experience so special.

*For volunteers who prefer more privacy, it is also possible to arrange a separate private accommodation in Nairobi for an additional cost. We are happy to support with the organization.
