Health Day

Strong in Body and Mind

Health is not a given – it’s a privilege that many children in the slums of Nairobi don’t have. They grow up in environments where access to doctors is rare, hospitals are unaffordable, and mental health simply isn’t talked about. Many suffer from preventable diseases, chronic infections, malnutrition, or emotional trauma caused by loss, neglect, or violence. But instead of healing, they are forced to keep going – without help, without hope.

That’s why we created Health Day – a day dedicated entirely to their well-being. Twice a year, we bring together hundreds of children to receive free hygiene items and offer workshops as well as psychological support. But we go even further: we create safe spaces to talk about fear, grief, and anxiety – with trained volunteers and social workers who listen, support, and uplift.
With every donation, we reach more children, provide more care, and plant the seeds for a healthier future

Two Days on a Health Mission – Our Health Day in Nairobi

Imagine hundreds of children, standing in line with shy smiles and curious eyes – waiting not for toys or treats, but for a toothbrush, a piece of soap, or a quick health check. For many, it’s the first time in their lives someone checks their temperature, asks how they feel, or shows them how to brush their teeth properly.

Our Health Day is more than a medical outreach – it’s an act of care, dignity, and education. Over the course of two days, our team welcomes more than 550 children and distributing hygiene kits filled with essentials like soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and sanitary products. Through interactive workshops, they learn how to wash their hands, take care for their bodies, and talk about their feelings – topics often overlooked in daily survival.

But beyond hygiene and health, it was about presence: listening, noticing, connecting. Our team takes time for every child – to check, to teach, and simply to be there. And the impact is visible not just in cleaner hands or healthier teeth, but in lighter hearts and brighter eyes.

Thanks to your support, we are able to organize transportation, buy essential supplies, provide food, and give each child individual attention. These days are rare – and that’s exactly why they matter so much.

This is what Health Day is all about: giving children the strength to grow – inside and out.
