Sports, celebration & fundraising power 🔥

Pauline on fire!

This month, Pauline has been unstoppable – raising awareness for ULT and collecting donations . She took part in not one, but two sports events in her Sport creates Education-outfit and even turned her PhD celebration party into a fundraising event.

Let’s report chronologically:

On 6 September 2025, in Gothenburg, Sweden, where Pauline lives, the Midnight Run (Midnattsloppet) took place wherePauline signed up for the 5 km city run. 🏃‍♀️From the very start, her idea was to run as part of Sport Creates Education to make ULT visible in her hometown too. Unfortunately, runners had to wear the official event shirt – but Annika managed to send Pauline some stickers in time so that her outfit still fit the mission!

The biggest highlight followed just a week later: Pauline defended her PhD thesis! 🎉 And of course, no dissertation without a proper celebration – and Pauline had something very special in mind. Instead of gifts to her as a person, she asked her guests to donate to the ULT Academy! What a brilliant idea! At the start of the party, she introduced ULT and our project, and instead of a gift table, there was a donation table waiting. 🧡

On the day itself, with all the excitement of the defence and the celebration, the ULT presentation wasn’t fully documented – so sadly, we can’t show you any pictures. But let’s hear from Pauline herself:

“The idea to have my party as a fundraising event came right at the beginning of the party planning. After a wonderful meeting with Annika, who supported me a lot with both the fundraiser and the runs, I knew exactly what to do. Through our website, I created my own donation link, which I displayed as a QR code at the party. Shipping things to Sweden can be slow, and not all materials arrived in time from Germany. But thanks to the downloads on our website, I could print a lot of information material myself and displayed it on the table. When welcoming my guests, I introduced ULT as an organisation, talked about my volunteer work, and explained the school purchase in a short PowerPoint presentation. The colourful pictures of our school put a wonderful sparkle in my guests’ eyes.”

And the result? 900 € in donations! 🤩

“I was deeply touched by how many of my friends and colleagues donated, and I want to thank every single sponsor from the bottom of my heart!!! The feeling of contributing to our school with my party makes me incredibly happy and proud,” says Pauline.

But she wasn’t done yet. Another week later, Pauline faced a new challenge: taking part in the Berlin Marathon – on inline skates! And once again, proudly wearing her ULT outfit. She ordered her Sport Creates Education shirt and cap through our webshop and made sure to shine a light on ULT in Berlin. Maybe you even saw her whizzing by in bright orange?

Thank you, dear Pauline, for your incredible commitment – and huge congratulations on your PhD! 🥳

We are so proud that our volunteers continue to put so much heart into their actions – and once again, this has been a complete success! Every single idea shows how much passion can achieve. And the best part: you can contribute too. Do you have an idea? Then get in touch – we love to support you.

Outlook October 2025

New Level, New Opportunities 🎓

Next month, several children in Nairobi will be moving up to the next grade level. 🎉 A special milestone that brings motivation, joy, and hope. Every step forward shows just how powerful education is – and how every bit of support helps shape their future.

Letters that connect hearts ✉️

In October, several of our volunteers will be on site again – including Mick. 💌 He’ll be bringing the letters from Germany to personally hand them over to the children. It’s a moment they never forget – filled with joy and connection. A beautiful reminder: words can build bridges.
