Team introduction - Liya / GURUGIRLL

This month we introduce you to Liya, who has been supporting us as a patron since this year. The artist, also known as GURUGIRLL, supports ULT with her name and has supported Lea in the preparations for our film premiere with a lot of enthusiasm and dedication.

What are your tasks at ULT?

In my role as patron, it is a matter close to my heart to promote the project with my support and presence. I see it as my task to raise the profile of this wonderful project through my public representation and thus encourage people to get involved too.

I would like to use my high profile to help bring the project into the public eye and give it the importance it deserves. It is a pleasure for me to take part in important events, whether through opening speeches or symbolic gestures, to underline the importance of this project.

I consider it a great honor to act as an ambassador for this project, to promote its goals and to convey trust and credibility through my support. It is also particularly important to me to bring together people and sponsors who are willing to support the project financially or through personal contributions.

Through my role, I not only want to provide moral support, but also act as a mediator between the project and potential supporters in order to facilitate a long-term and fruitful collaboration.

It fills me with joy and pride to contribute to a project close to my heart in this way and to pave the way for positive development with my support.

Why are you involved in ULT?

The children of the Kenyan slum and Lea herself have captured my heart. I empathize and identify with their commitment and their projects. Together we can still achieve a lot.

What was your favourite subject and what was your hate subject at school?

My favorite subject was skipping class or breaks – I always hated school 😅 I was also always the one with the most absences, but my grades were still good!👍🏼

Where do you see ULT in 5 years?

I see a lot of potential in ULT’s work. The main focus is to support children in the here and now so that they have a better basis for the future. Accordingly, I see an expansion of ULT in its communication and awareness, and growth in all directions in order to get closer to this main goal.

Tell a funny/awkward/beautiful story from your school days.

In art class we had a project that lasted 4 weeks. The task was to construct something and write a text on the subject: “Why is this art?”

As usual, I forgot to do my homework and ended up with nothing on the day of the presentation. All I wrote on my piece of paper was “This is art”. I was the only one to get an A 😂
