Clement moved to Soweto with his brother Kissjah and his mother Risper in October 2023, just 2 months ago looking for work. The mom started working in a club and I met her with a horribly swollen black eye as a drunk man had beaten her at the bar. She cant afford to go to a doctor and she is not allowed back to work until the swelling is down in a few weeks leaving the family with no money.
4 years ago they were forced out of their family land in Nyeri and came to Nairobi to seek work. The mother was doing salon work until Covid hit and she was out of work. Clement scored a 370 on his 8th grade exam which granted him a scholarship at an elite boys boarding school for Form 1. The family could not afford the bus fee to go to the re enrolment meeting on campus so his scholarship was revoked. He is very bright and dreams to become a cardiologist. He loves to play handball and his favorite food is Mokimo. He recently joined the Creative Thespians Africanas team, a group dedicated to traditional African singing, dancing, writing, and rollerskating with a strong focus in academic studies and support.
