Team introduction - Kristina

Here's what we've been thinking about: ULT (UNDER Lea's TRUST) has, thanks to your help and support, developed significantly since its foundation in 2021 and is growing steadily from day to day. In order to share this with you and to bring you up to date as transparently as possible on who is behind the name ``UNDER Lea's TRUST``, from now until the end of the year a member of our team will introduce themselves personally in each newsletter. We have come up with five questions that each member will answer. This month it is the turn of Kristina.

Hello dear ones, my name is Kristina, I just turned 31 years old and I come from the beautiful city of Essen, which is a city in the west of Germany, more precisely in the Ruhr area and here I have been living for a few years and work at the Employment Agency.

What are your tasks at ULT?

I take on smaller tasks that I can do well on the PC from home, because I do not live in Berlin. Mainly I’m currently doing the recipe posts for social media, which means I cook, photograph it for you and create the recipe text, so it can then be posted.

Why are you involved in ULT?

Last year on Instagram I was shown the channel ULT and there was the post that Lea is looking for volunteers.  Then I wrote to her and we spoke on Skype at relatively short notice and got to know each other. I found the presentation of the website, the Instagram channel and Lea herself totally fascinating. I was also so impressed by the idea of founding an association and going through with it that I said I would definitely like to help. Lea then told me that she was flying to Kenya in November and I said, that’s exactly what I want to do, be active, actively help. So I could help on site and see where the donations go and what the association does on site.

What was your favourite subject and what was your hate subject at school?

My favorite subjects were languages:  I learned English, French and Italian. I was pretty good at that, too, and I enjoyed it. And my hate subject was philosophy. I had a teacher with whom I didn’t get along at all, I never understood what he wanted and therefore couldn’t really participate. That’s why I didn’t enjoy it at all.

Where do you see ULT in 5 years?

In five years, I will see the school built and the children from the Soweto slums will be taught by male and female teachers. That’s a milestone we should reach in five years. We are a cool, young team. We have great, innovative ideas and projects that we want to implement. There’s definitely a lot more to come, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Tell a funny/awkward/beautiful story from your school days.

I can’t think of a specific story right now, but there is one beautiful thing that I took with me from my school days. These are very good friends. We started 5th grade together back then and went through everything together until 13th grade. We are still very good friends today and are a clique of 8 that people knew at our school. It’s nice to still have such friendships, despite the fact that school is over.
