Hello, my name is Miriam and I live with my mom and my little brother. We were forced to flee from our home village because I reached the age when girls there are subjected to a certain harmful tradition: female genital mutilation. This practice is still carried out in many villages. My mom didn’t want me to suffer from it, so she fled with us. Even though life here is not always easy, we are grateful to be safe now.

In my free time, I love drawing and swimming. My favorite animals are cats because they are so cute. I also really like cows because they give us milk to drink. If I had to describe myself, I would say that I am sweet, clever, and playful. I love laughing and playing with my friends. When I grow up, I want to become a doctor or a nurse so I can help people who are sick. I believe learning is very important because knowledge helps you live a better life and make your dreams come true. I dream of one day living a good life and helping others, especially the people around me. I’m working hard so I can reach my goals one day.
