Kissjah moved to Soweto with his brother Clement and his mother Risper in October 2023, just 2 months ago looking for work. The mom started working in a club and I met her with a horribly swollen black eye as a drunk man had beaten her at the bar. She cant afford to go to a doctor and she is not allowed back to work until the swelling is down in a few weeks leaving the family with no money. 

4 years ago they were forced out of their family land in Nyeri and came to Nairobi to seek work. The mother was doing salon work until Covid hit and she was out of work. Kissjah didn’t go to school all last year as his mother could not afford it but he is eager to start grade 7. He dreams to become an artist and loves drawing and painting and singing as well as making bracelets and carpets.
