“Hi, my name is Esther and I’m 18 years old. I live with my mom and four of my seven siblings in the Soweto slum in Kahawa, Nairobi. After my mom’s first husband died, a new man came into our lives who treated us badly and eventually burned down our home – along with all our documents. Thanks to UNDER Lea’s TRUST, I now have a birth certificate again, which is a big step for my future.
I’ve been able to go to school for five years thanks to a sponsorship. But that support has ended, and without a new sponsor, I can’t continue. I’m so close to finishing high school. My dream is to become a primary school teacher and teach math. I love learning and believe education can change my life. When I’m not studying, I enjoy dancing, reading magazines, and going to church with my sisters and friends. I love Bongo music and singing Gospel. My favorite food is rice with chapati. I’m loving, peaceful, and joyful – and I wish with all my heart to continue my education. With your help, I can make it.”
