“Hi, my name is Collins and I’m 8 years old. I live with my mom and two siblings in Kahawa. My dad only comes by rarely and usually drunk – he doesn’t care for us. My mom washes clothes for others to earn a bit of money, but it’s not enough to take care of us – especially not to pay school fees.

I used to attend preschool and passed blue houses every day – that’s why blue is my favorite color. But now I can’t go to school anymore because we can’t afford it. That makes me sad because I really want to learn. I dream of being a driver one day, and in my free time, I love playing football with my brother and eating rice or meat. I also love dogs because they’re brave – just like I want to be. I hope I can go back to school. I’m kind, patient, and understanding – and I want to show what I can do.”
