ULT - then until now<\/h1>

Many of our newsletter subscribers have been with our club for quite a while, but do you know how it all began? We ourselves sometimes have our problems to remember everything and therefore we would like to use this newsletter together with you to review the development of our organization. In this context we will present our projects and explain how we initiated them and how they are connected.<\/h3>

How it started<\/h3>

Alles begann mit Lea's Reise durch Afrika im Jahr 2020, wo sie im Soweto Slum in der Soweto Youth Initiative (heute eine wichtige Partner-Organisation) aushalf. Ihre ehrenamtliche Unterst\u00fctzung bestand darin, Kindern, die aus Geldmangel nicht die Schule besuchen konnten, Englisch und Mathematik beizubringen. W\u00e4hrend dieser Zeit begann sie damit, Spenden zu sammeln, um diesen Kindern warme Mahlzeiten zu erm\u00f6glichen. Damit wurde der Keim f\u00fcr unsere Arbeit gelegt.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lea’s next thought was that not only a few children should go to school, but all. She sponsored the first child out of her own pocket and began to inspire friends and family in Germany to sponsor kids. Thus, our first core projects came into being in 2020: <\/span>School Sponsorships<\/b> and the <\/span>Food Program<\/b>. For legal reasons, both projects temporarily became part of the Soweto Youth Initiative, with Lea organizing and managing them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Learning and eating were thus basic things in the lives of the first children, but what is childhood without fun? Out of this thought, also in the same year (2020) the first <\/span>Poolday<\/b> took place, which is still an annual ULT event and highlight for our children.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Die Projekte wuchsen weiter und nach langem Ringen mit der B\u00fcrokratie wurde am 6. Mai 2021, noch dazu mitten in der Corona-Pandemie, offiziell unser gemeinn\u00fctziger Verein \"UNDER Lea's TRUST\" (ULT) in Deutschland und am 10. September 2021 unsere NGO \u201cUNDER Lea\u2019s INTERNATIONAL\u201d (ULI) in Kenia gegr\u00fcndet. W\u00e4hrend der deutsche Verein von Lea allein geleitet wurde, haben Lea und Bonface sich in Kenia im Team zusammengeschlossen. Nachdem ULT ungef\u00e4hr ein Jahr eine \u201cOne-Woman-Show\u201d war, kamen im Fr\u00fchjahr 2021 Annika und Tine, und im August auch Samira zu dem deutschen Team dazu. Seitdem w\u00e4chst unser Team und die Aufgaben der einzelnen Teammitglieder werden klarer definiert und immer besser verteilt. Mit diesem Fortschritt konnten und k\u00f6nnen wir immer weitere Projekte und Aktionen realisieren.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

One of these projects is <\/span>Freude schenken<\/b>, where sponsors can give their loved ones a gift that is really needed. This is possible in the form of a donation for example for a school bag, a toy or a menstruation set for our school children in the slum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

F\u00fcr Transparenz zu sorgen und unsere Sponsoren \u00fcber alle Projekte auf dem Laufen zu halten, ist f\u00fcr uns ebenfalls ein wichtiger Punkt. So entsprang vor etwas mehr als einem Jahr, aus dem Gedanken, Dir stets Updates aus dem Verein zu bieten und wichtige Informationen zu teilen, der Newsletter. Dieser wird, wie Du sicherlich wei\u00dft, einmal im Monat versendet und geht auf die verschiedenen Themen in unserem Verein ein.<\/p>\n

Mit immer mehr Mitarbeiter:innen im Team konnten wir im Sommer 2022 den ULT Happy CLUB ins Leben rufen, welcher nachhaltig das Wachstum des Vereins unterst\u00fctzt und verschiedene Projekte f\u00fcr die Kinder erm\u00f6glicht.<\/p>\n

Gerne m\u00f6chten wir auch in Deutschland f\u00fcr unsere Sponsoren pr\u00e4sent sein und uns zusammen motivieren, weiterhin Gutes zu tun. Mit mehr Unterst\u00fctzung im Verein kam somit auch mehr Kreativit\u00e4t und es entwickelte sich daher der Gedanke einer Benefizveranstaltung in Berlin. Im Juli letzten Jahres fand also zum ersten Mal unser Benefiz Open Air \u201cTECHNO SCHAFFT BILDUNG\u201d statt, welches von nun an j\u00e4hrlich fest geplant wird. Bei diesem Open Air durften wir Dir auch das erste Mal unser Merchandise vorstellen, welches es jetzt sogar in unserem neuen Online Shop gibt.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

How its going<\/h3>

The sponsorships, the ULT Happy CLUB, and our events, such as flea markets and open air events, are important pillars for our currently largest project: our future <\/span>ULT school in Nairobi<\/b>, with which we want to ensure the best possible support for the children. This mammoth project will demand a lot of work and energy from us and of course we will not neglect all our other projects.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Phew! That’s already a lot of projects and even more are planned! Since none of our projects would be possible without your support and the whole team behind ULT, we are always happy about more team members. Hence, we’re looking for helping hands in public relations, event management, accounting, video and project management, and as Instagram managers.
